Verse 7 is found in chapter 11 of 1 Chronicles. David conquers Jerusalem and establishes the City of David. Joab plays a decisive role in capturing the fortress and later becomes military commander. Jerusalem gains central importance because it will become both the political capital and, later, the center of worship organized around the temple.
