Verse 9 is found in chapter 3 of 1 Chronicles. David’s genealogy begins with his sons born in Hebron and continues with those born in Jerusalem. The order recalls the progressive growth of David’s house from his early years as king to his consolidation in Jerusalem. The list turns the Davidic family into a continuous historical line and prepares the later emphasis on the temple and monarchy.
