Verse 3 is found in chapter 6 of 1 Chronicles. The genealogy of Levi leads especially to Aaron and the priestly line. The succession of priests is presented as fundamental continuity for Israel’s worship. The mention of the exile up to Jehozadak shows that even the priestly line endured the national catastrophe and remained a reference point for later restoration.
