Verse 7 is found in chapter 14 of 1 Kings. Ahijah recalls that God raised Jeroboam from a humble position and gave him the kingdom, but Jeroboam did not follow the Lord. The judgment against his house is severe: the dynasty will be eliminated, and the sick son will be the only member of the house to receive an honorable burial. The prophecy explains Jeroboam’s political downfall from a moral and theological perspective.
