A verse can bring hope. Share this message of faith with someone you care about.
Verse 8 is found in chapter 15 of 1 Kings. Abijah reigns over Judah, and the narrator evaluates his conduct in contrast with David. Although his heart was not perfect, God preserves a lamp for David in Jerusalem because of the covenant. The image of the lamp represents dynastic continuity. The passage shows that the permanence of David’s house ultimately depends on God’s faithfulness, even when some descendants fail to reach the expected ideal.
