Now the rest of the acts of Baasha, and what he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

Verse 5 is found in chapter 16 of 1 Kings. The prophet Jehu announces judgment against Baasha because he followed Jeroboam’s path and caused Israel to sin. Although Baasha had destroyed the previous house, he himself does not receive divine approval for his conduct. The prophecy demonstrates that eliminating a condemned dynasty does not automatically make the successor righteous. Each king will be evaluated according to his own faithfulness.
