Verse 13 is found in chapter 21 of 1 Kings. Ahab desires Naboth’s vineyard and becomes distressed when Naboth refuses to sell it because it represents the inheritance received from his ancestors. Jezebel then organizes a false trial, accuses Naboth, and secures his execution. Ahab takes possession of the vineyard. The narrative presents the abuse of royal power against a citizen defending his family inheritance. The seizure of the land turns the king’s greed into a violation of justice and property within Israel.
