Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto king Solomon in Jerusalem, that they might bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion.

Verse 1 is found in chapter 8 of 1 Kings. Solomon gathers the elders and leaders of Israel to bring the ark into the temple. The priests place the ark in the Most Holy Place, and the cloud fills the house of the Lord. The cloud functions as a sign of divine presence and recalls God’s manifestations throughout the tabernacle’s history. The temple is therefore inaugurated not only by its architecture but by the manifestation of God’s presence.
