And Saul said unto the Kenites, Go, depart, get you down from among the Amalekites, lest I destroy you with them: for ye shewed kindness to all the children of Israel, when they came up out of Egypt. So the Kenites departed from among the Amalekites.

Verse 6 is found in chapter 15 of 1 Samuel. Samuel gives Saul a specific command concerning Amalek and reminds him that Israel must carry out the judgment announced against that people. Saul defeats the Amalekites but keeps Agag alive and preserves the best of the livestock. The disobedience is selective: Saul fulfills part of the instruction and modifies another part according to his own judgment. The episode establishes that biblical obedience cannot be measured simply by the overall result of a mission, but by faithfulness to the received word.
