Verse 18 is found in chapter 23 of 2 Chronicles. Jehoiada establishes a covenant between God, the king, and the people. The temple of Baal is destroyed and access to the Lord’s temple is reorganized. Joash’s new political beginning is accompanied by an explicit renewal of the covenant and the removal of idolatry introduced during the previous period.
