And they withstood Uzziah the king, and said unto him, It appertaineth not unto thee, Uzziah, to burn incense unto the LORD, but to the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; neither shall it be for thine honour from the LORD God.

Verse 18 is found in chapter 26 of 2 Chronicles. When Uzziah becomes powerful, his heart becomes proud and he enters the temple to burn incense, a function reserved for priests. The priests confront him, and the king becomes afflicted with leprosy. The narrative establishes a fundamental boundary between political and priestly authority: prosperity and power do not authorize the king to take cultic functions reserved for others.
