Verse 21 is found in chapter 35 of 2 Chronicles. Josiah enters battle against Neco of Egypt without heeding his warning that the campaign was not directed against him. Josiah dies at Megiddo and is mourned by Judah. The episode introduces a tragic note after the great reforms: a life characterized by seeking God does not eliminate the need to discern political and military decisions carefully.
