Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and his abominations which he did, and that which was found in him, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah: and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead.

Verse 8 is found in chapter 36 of 2 Chronicles. Jehoiakim reigns and is taken to Babylon after doing evil in the sight of God. Nebuchadnezzar removes some of the temple vessels. The deportation of sacred objects anticipates the final destruction of Jerusalem and shows how accumulated unfaithfulness leads to political and cultic loss.
