Verse 3 is found in chapter 5 of 2 Chronicles. Solomon brings into the temple the objects David had dedicated, and the ark is then moved into the Most Holy Place. The presence of the ark connects the new temple with the tabernacle and the entire history of the covenant. The temple does not replace Israel’s previous history but becomes the new permanent expression of centralized worship in Jerusalem.
