Verse 6 is found in chapter 11 of 2 Kings. The priest Jehoiada carefully organizes the protection of the young Joash and coordinates the guards to proclaim him king. The ceremony includes the crown, the testimony, and the anointing, elements that publicly manifest the legitimacy of the new ruler. The scene transforms what had been a secret survival into a public restoration of dynastic order. The temple becomes the place from which the transfer of power is carried out, highlighting the relationship between royal leadership and covenant faithfulness. Military protection is subordinated to the recognition of Joash as the legitimate king.
