And walked in the statutes of the heathen, whom the LORD cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which they had made.

Verse 8 is found in chapter 17 of 2 Kings. The narrator interrupts the political sequence to explain why Israel went into exile. He lists the rejection of the Lord, idolatry, the construction of worship sites, imitation of the nations, and refusal to listen to the prophets. The fall of Samaria is thus presented as a theological event before being merely military. God had repeatedly warned the people through his prophets, but Israel persisted in its practices. Exile is interpreted as the accumulated consequence of a prolonged breach of the covenant.

und wandelten nach der Heiden Weise, die der HERR vor den Kindern Israel vertrieben hatte, und taten wie die Könige Israels;
Y anduviesen en los estatutos de las gentes que Jehová había lanzado delante de los hijos de Israel, y en los de los reyes de Israel, que hicieron;
ed erano camminati negli statuti delle genti, le quali il Signore avea scacciate d’innanzi a loro, e negli statuti che i re d’Israele aveano fatti;
E andaram nos estatutos das nações que o SENHOR lançara fora de diante dos filhos de Israel, e nos dos reis de Israel, que eles fizeram.
