And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD.
A verse can bring hope. Share this message of faith with someone you care about.
Verse 16 is found in chapter 20 of 2 Kings. Merodach-baladan sends messengers and gifts to Hezekiah after learning of his recovery. The king shows them all his treasures and resources, apparently failing to recognize the danger of displaying Judah’s wealth. Isaiah announces that a day will come when everything will be carried away to Babylon and some of the king’s descendants will be taken there. The narrative thus introduces in advance the destiny that will unfold much later in the final chapters. Hezekiah’s prosperity paradoxically contains the seed of future vulnerability when pride replaces dependence.
