And he set a graven image of the grove that he had made in the house, of which the LORD said to David, and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever:

Verse 7 is found in chapter 21 of 2 Kings. Manasseh begins a long reign and reverses many of Hezekiah’s reforms. He rebuilds the high places, erects altars to Baal, makes an Asherah, and places idolatrous altars even inside the temple. He also practices divination and leads the people to do evil. The passage presents a complete reversal of the previous reform: what Hezekiah had removed returns to the center of religious life. The seriousness increases because Manasseh does not merely tolerate foreign practices, but introduces them into the space designated for worship of the Lord.

Er setzte auch das Bild der Aschera, das er gemacht hatte, in das Haus, von welchem der HERR gesagt hatte: In dies Haus und nach Jerusalem, das ich erwählt habe aus allen Stämmen Israels, will ich meinen Namen setzen ewiglich;
Também pôs uma imagem de escultura, do bosque que tinha feito, na casa de que o SENHOR dissera a Davi e a Salomão, seu filho: Nesta casa e em Jerusalém, que escolhi de todas as tribos de Israel, porei o meu nome para sempre;
