Verse 13 is found in chapter 22 of 2 Kings. When Josiah hears the words of the book, he tears his clothes. His reaction shows that the reading is not presented as neutral information, but as an accusation directly affecting the spiritual condition of the people. The king recognizes that Judah has provoked the Lord’s anger because its ancestors did not obey what was written. Josiah then seeks to consult the Lord through his representatives. The scene presents a fundamental sequence: hearing the word, recognizing guilt, and seeking God’s response. Reform begins with a serious confrontation with Scripture.
