So the young man, even the young man the prophet, went to Ramothgilead.

Verse 4 is found in chapter 9 of 2 Kings. Elisha sends one of the sons of the prophets to anoint Jehu as king over Israel. The mission is intended to execute the judgment announced against Ahab’s house through a new dynasty. The young prophet must act quickly and flee after delivering the message. Jehu’s anointing does not automatically make all his later actions morally exemplary; within the narrative, it specifically establishes his role in judgment against a royal house that had promoted idolatry and violence. The prophetic word again intervenes directly in political succession.
