Verse 15 is found in chapter 11 of 2 Samuel. David sends Uriah a letter containing instructions to place him in the most dangerous part of the battle. The king uses his own soldier’s loyalty to bring about his death. Joab carries out the order, and Uriah falls along with other men. David’s sin has moved from adultery to political manipulation and indirect murder. Royal power, which should serve the people, becomes an instrument for protecting the ruler’s sin.
