Verse 16 is found in chapter 17 of 2 Samuel. Hushai communicates the danger to Zadok and Abiathar, who send the message to David through a young woman and a boy. The messengers must hide in a well when they are discovered and eventually manage to deliver the warning. The scene depicts a clandestine network of loyalty operating amid persecution. Divine protection is manifested through concrete people who act prudently and courageously to preserve the king’s life.
