A verse can bring hope. Share this message of faith with someone you care about.
Verse 16 is found in chapter 18 of 2 Samuel. Absalom becomes caught by the head in the branches of an oak tree while his mule continues onward. A soldier refuses to kill him because he remembers David’s command, but Joab eventually strikes him and orders his burial. The monument Absalom had erected for himself contrasts with his burial in a pit covered with stones. The scene shows the reversal of his ambitions: the one who sought to establish a royal name ends without the throne he pursued.
