Verse 14 is found in chapter 11 of Daniel. A new campaign by the king of the North gains greater strength and becomes connected with the Beautiful Land. The expression brings the region of Israel into the conflict between great powers. God’s people do not necessarily control the decisions of these empires but are caught amid their movements. Daniel therefore presents international history from the perspective of a community vulnerable to decisions made by foreign rulers.
