Verse 44 is found in chapter 2 of Daniel. Daniel interprets the different parts of the statue as successive kingdoms and culminates with a kingdom established by God that will never be destroyed. The interpretation is not simply intended to satisfy the king’s curiosity about future events; it redefines sovereignty. Political power may dominate for a season, but God’s rule transcends imperial succession and ultimately replaces every human dominion.
