Verse 25 is found in chapter 4 of Daniel. Daniel explains that the cutting down of the tree represents the king’s humiliation and the temporary loss of his human position. However, the preserved stump introduces a decisive note of hope: judgment does not necessarily mean final destruction. Daniel concludes by urging the king to practice justice and mercy toward the poor. The proper response to divine warning is not merely fear, but concrete repentance.
