Verse 41 is found in chapter 1 of Deuteronomy. God declares that the unbelieving generation will not enter the land, while Caleb receives a particular promise because he fully followed the Lord. Joshua is also prepared to succeed Moses. Israel’s later attempt to go up and fight without divine authorization ends in defeat, showing that obedience cannot be replaced by a late reaction after previously rejecting God’s command.
