Verse 6 is found in chapter 11 of Deuteronomy. Israel must love the Lord and remember the experiences of the generation that witnessed God’s works in Egypt and the wilderness. Moses presents memory as an instrument of obedience. The promised land differs from Egypt, which Israel knew, because it depends on rain from heaven, reinforcing awareness of direct dependence on God.
