Verse 18 is found in chapter 29 of Deuteronomy. All Israel symbolically enters the renewal of the covenant, from leaders and elders to women, children, and foreigners. A special warning is given against the person who considers himself secure while secretly persisting in idolatry. The consequences reach even the land itself, which can become a witness to judgment. The chapter ends by recognizing that revealed things belong to the people while mysteries belong to God.
