Verse 10 is found in chapter 3 of Deuteronomy. Israel faces Og, king of Bashan, and wins a second great victory east of the Jordan. The vast territory conquered becomes part of the inheritance of the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh. The memory of Og strengthens the collective remembrance of the victories that preceded the entry into Canaan.
