Verse 6 is found in chapter 31 of Deuteronomy. Moses announces that he will not cross the Jordan and presents Joshua as the new leader. The continuity of God’s purpose does not depend on Moses remaining. Joshua must be strong and courageous because God himself will go before Israel. The leadership transition is grounded in God’s continuing presence.
