Verse 4 is found in chapter 34 of Deuteronomy. Moses climbs Mount Nebo, and God allows him to see the entire promised land before his death. The text reaffirms that Moses will not enter it because of the transgression at Meribah, but God fulfills his promise by allowing him to see it. Moses dies in Moab and is buried, while Israel mourns for thirty days. The death of the great mediator definitively marks the end of an era.
