Verse 10 is found in chapter 6 of Deuteronomy. Moses warns that the abundance of Canaan can become a spiritual test. Israel will receive cities, houses, wells, and vineyards that it did not build or plant, and precisely that prosperity may lead it to forget the God who brought it out of Egypt. The memory of the exodus serves as protection against the self-sufficiency produced by prosperity.
