Whoso removeth stones shall be hurt therewith; and he that cleaveth wood shall be endangered thereby.

Verse 9 is found in chapter 10 of Ecclesiastes. Qohelet observes an evil that proceeds from those who govern: unqualified people may receive elevated positions while others occupy lower places. The reversal of the expected order once again shows that the world under the sun does not always distribute recognition according to merit. The worker must recognize the danger of acting carelessly: even a useful tool loses effectiveness when it is not handled properly.
