The verse 2 is found in chapter 9 of Esther. The appointed day of the first decree arrives, and the Jews prepare to defend themselves. Their adversaries expected to dominate the Jews, but the opposite occurs. The narrative presents the defense as a consequence of the second decree and as a complete reversal of the initial threat.
