Verse 17 is found in chapter 28 of Ezekiel. The king of Tyre appears in a lament filled with images of beauty, precious stones, and the Garden of Eden. The language presents an exalted figure who is ultimately expelled because of corruption. Interpretive tradition has connected this passage with Satan, but its immediate context concerns the king of Tyre and his downfall.
