Verse 3 is found in chapter 29 of Ezekiel. Egypt is compared with a great monster lying in its rivers and claiming to have made them for itself. The image condemns the pride of a power attributing to itself dominion that ultimately belongs to God. Judgment begins by exposing this false self-sufficiency.
