When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

Verse 18 is found in chapter 3 of Ezekiel. The Spirit lifts Ezekiel and carries him toward the exiles. His ministry develops within the exiled community and begins with a period of silence. God establishes the prophet as a watchman: he must warn the wicked and the righteous, and his responsibility is to communicate the divine warning faithfully.
