Verse 61 is found in chapter 2 of Ezra. Some priests were unable to prove their genealogy. The issue is not resolved by ignoring the matter, because priestly service was connected to verifiable family membership. The scene shows that restoration also requires discernment: belonging to the community does not automatically mean being qualified to perform every religious function.
