The verse 12 is found in chapter 47 of Isaiah. Babylon appears as a woman who believed herself to be a permanent queen, but she will be humbled. Her confidence in wisdom, sorcery, commerce, and political power cannot prevent judgment. Her fall demonstrates that a civilization that interprets prosperity as invulnerability eventually faces the reality of its own fragility.
