The verse 12 is found in chapter 53 of Isaiah. The Servant’s death is not presented as ultimate failure: after suffering comes vindication and offspring. The Servant bears the sin of many and ultimately shares the spoil with the strong. The chapter brings together innocent suffering, substitution, intercession, and exaltation in a single theological figure.
