The verse 30 is found in chapter 22 of Jeremiah. Coniah is presented as a signet ring torn from God’s hand, an image of the loss of dynastic authority. Although he is a descendant of David, his immediate line will suffer a rupture. The passage demonstrates that the Davidic promises do not mean immunity for every individual king from judgment because of his conduct.
