The verse 18 is found in chapter 34 of Jeremiah. The violation of the covenant to release slaves produces a strong denunciation. The leaders had made a solemn covenant, but then returned to enslaving those they had freed. God interprets the reversal as a profanation of his name and announces that the enemy army will return to complete the judgment.
