Therefore thus saith the LORD of Jehoiakim king of Judah; He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David: and his dead body shall be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.

The verse 30 is found in chapter 36 of Jeremiah. God commands the words destroyed by Jehoiakim to be written again, adding judgment against the king. The repetition of the scroll expresses the permanence of the prophetic word in the face of opposition. God’s authority does not depend on the physical preservation of one particular document, but on his ability to communicate his purpose again.
