Then Jeremiah the prophet said unto them, I have heard you; behold, I will pray unto the LORD your God according to your words; and it shall come to pass, that whatsoever thing the LORD shall answer you, I will declare it unto you; I will keep nothing back from you.

The verse 4 is found in chapter 42 of Jeremiah. The survivors ask Jeremiah to consult Yahweh and promise to obey whatever answer is given. After ten days, God commands them to remain in the land and not fear Babylon, but warns that Egypt will not be a safe refuge. The tragedy is that the people ask for a word while already considering disobedience to it.
