The verse 39 is found in chapter 50 of Jeremiah. The Redeemer of Israel defends his people’s cause and Babylon loses its security. The sound of its fall reaches the nations and causes international upheaval. The section combines justice for the oppressed with judgment against the oppressor, completing the reversal begun in the earlier oracles against Babylon.
