The verse 16 is found in chapter 6 of Jeremiah. The people have lost the ability to hear the word because their hearts are closed. The phrase “peace, peace” denounces a false tranquility offered by leaders who do not want to confront the wound. The ancient paths are presented as a good way, but the community refuses to walk in them.
