The verse 18 is found in chapter 7 of Jeremiah. God commands Jeremiah not to intercede for a community that has consciously persisted in idolatry. The reference to the “queen of heaven” reveals the depth of the religious abandonment. The people attribute their prosperity to idolatry, while the prophet interprets that same practice as the cause of their ruin.
