The verse 26 is found in chapter 9 of Jeremiah. The warning against boasting in wisdom, strength, or wealth establishes a theological hierarchy of values. The true reason for boasting is knowing Yahweh and understanding his character. Physical circumcision also does not guarantee faithfulness: external religious identity does not eliminate the need for inner obedience.
