Verse 20 is found in chapter 10 of Joshua. The five enemy kings hide in a cave at Makkedah. Joshua orders the entrance temporarily sealed while the army finishes defeating the remaining enemies. The kings are then brought before the people, and Joshua uses the scene to exhort his commanders to place their feet on the kings’ necks. The gesture symbolizes the enemies’ subjugation and serves as visible confirmation of God’s promise.
